Greetings from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of IUT!!

On behalf of the Students, Faculties, and Staff of the EEE department, I welcome you to this webpage that will guide to find a gateway to move further.

Having begun its journey as one of the two founding academic departments of Islamic University of Technology (IUT), with its first batch graduating in 2000, the Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) department has traversed a reasonably long way and currently, hosts around 650 national and foreign students in the undergraduate program and around 50 students in the postgraduate program. Being the largest department of IUT, the EEE department boasts of being one of the most significant contributors among OIC member states that help the young generation to grow up as excellent individuals and competent engineers. The department envisions to develop the fundamental skills of its students in such a way that they can graduate with attributes and capabilities of working as active agents to contribute to the Fourth Industrial Revolution Industry 4.0) on a global scale.

The EEE department has an outstanding faculty base including members with degrees obtained from world-renowned universities of the USA, Canada, Japan, KSA, Malaysia, BUET, RUET, and IUT itself and many more. Through the dedicated efforts and guidance from the faculty members, the department can aspire to fulfill its mission of producing engineers with a strong foundation, excellent design skills, and cutting-edge research experience.

The programs, currently offered by the department, include Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, which is four years long consisting of eight consecutive semesters in the Undergraduate level. In the Postgraduate level, the department offers Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees based on prescribed coursework and independent but supervised research in specific fields of study.

The department has a number of laboratories with state-of-the-art facilities to instill hands-on training to the students in connection with the theoretical courses. Presently, the department has Power Systems lab, Digital Electronics Lab, VLSI Lab, Telecommunication Lab, RF and Microwave Lab, Microprocessor and Microcontroller Lab, Electrical Machines Lab Medical Electronics Lab, etc. Laboratories are being constantly updated with new equipment, instrument, and software, consistent with the dynamically revised course curricula.

Faculty members along with MSc and PhD students are constantly engaged in extensive research in the fields of Power Electronics, Renewable Energy, High Power Microwaves, Photonics, Plasmonics, Optical Fiber Communication, LTE-A, and 5G Cellular Communication, Internet of Things, FPGA based system, VLSI circuits, T-CAM circuits, and so forth. The research outcomes are regularly published in peer-reviewed and indexed international journals and conferences.

In addition to the academic and research activities, an exuberant team, the EEE department has been organizing successfully one of the largest electrical fests of Bangladesh, titled as ESONANCE, for the last six years.
