Mr. Asif Newaz is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the Islamic University of Technology (IUT). He specializes in Machine Learning, Data Science, and Computer Vision, with a particular focus on developing trustworthy, data-efficient, and practically deployable AI systems. Mr. Newaz holds a B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from IUT and has recently completed his M.Sc. in Computer Science with a specialization in Data Science, graduating with a CGPA of 4.0 and receiving the Gold Medal. Mr. Newaz has published 15+ peer-reviewed papers in reputable journals and conferences and has also led the development of open-source machine-learning libraries—including iCost and iBRF—that support data-complexity–aware learning and robust model training. His current research explores instance-complexity–based learning, fidelity evaluation of synthetic data, and accessible AI systems for healthcare and assistive technologies.
