The opening ceremony of Industrial Training of EEE Department of Islamic University of Technology (IUT) organized by Bangladesh Power Management Institute (BPMI) was held on 26 September 2021 using an online virtual platform. 325 EEE students of IUT are participating in this Industrial Training programme in 2 separate batches from 26 September to 12 October 2021. Respected Adviser for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Affairs to the Hon’ble Prime Minister Dr. Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, Bir Bikram graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Mr. Md. Habibur Rahman, Secretary of Power Division, and Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, Vice-Chancellor of IUT were present as the special guests. Dr. Mohammad Rakibul Islam, Dean, Faculty of Science and Technical Education of IUT was present as Guest of Honour.
At the beginning, the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, martyred on 15th August 1975 with his family, and the martyrs of 1971 Liberation War of Bangladesh was remembered with great honour.

Respected Adviser for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Affairs to the Hon’ble Prime Minister Dr. Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, BB thanked the Vice-Chancellor of IUT for choosing BPMI for conducting their industrial training and also thanked the Rector, BPMI for arranging the industrial training of IUT students. He also greeted the students of the EEE department of IUT. He said that Bangladesh Power Sector experienced extraordinary progress in generating electricity in the last decade despite a lot of challenges regarding investment, availability of resources, a difference of opinion in strategies etc. He praised BPMI's unique initiative of arranging such industrial training programme and also advised to continue arranging such programmes with other academic institutions in near future. He stated that Industrial Training is very much important for University Graduates to get a flavor of real working environment scenarios and it is an invaluable experience. It helps them to build their technical skill as well as self-confidence, leadership skills.
The Chief Guest also praised the course curriculum of the training course and he expected that this will give a complete overview of Bangladesh Power System and help the participants to acquire primary skills for the job industries for EEE students. He also expects that the cooperation of BPMI & IUT will be continued in training and other research activities in near future. At last, he finished his speech by announcing the opening of the Industrial Training Session and wished every success of this industrial training programme.
Secretary of Power Division Mr. Md. Habibur Rahman expressed his gratitude for the gracious presence of the Chief Guest Dr. Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, BB Sir. He also stated that the presence of a legend like Hon’ble Adviser is always motivating for the audiences. He greeted the students of IUT for participating in the course. He hoped that all the students would be highly benefited if they complete the training with full attention. He also congratulated IUT’s initiative to involve BPMI for Industrial Training. He hoped that this cooperation will last long. He finished his speech wishing every success of this program.
Vice Chancellor, IUT, Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam expressed his gratitude to the Chief Guest Dr. Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, BB to show interest in IUT activities. He stated that there are students from 35 different OIC countries who already graduated from IUT and are now working in different professional sectors successfully. He mentioned that IUT has different research initiatives in Renewable Energy, Biomass Energy, Rooftop Solar, Voltage and frequency management for quality power etc. He hoped that BPMI and IUT will jointly work in conducting training & research which will be beneficial for the welfare of Bangladesh Power Sector.

Dean, Faculty of Science and Technical Education of IUT Dr. Mohammad Rakibul Islam mentioned that OIC & IUT has a long history of patronizing university education in member countries across the globe. The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) is the largest department of Islamic University of Technology (IUT). The department has a glorious history of excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research. The department aims at producing the best engineers, teachers and professionals for the national and international arena. IUT EEE graduates now serve in many vital positions of Academics, Govt & Private services and businesses both nationally & internationally with high reputation. Every year nearly 160-170 students are admitted in this department. He said that in Covid-19 pandemic situation, it continues its semester classroom teaching through Online. As a part of the EEE graduation requirement this industrial training is being held online. He thanked BPMI officials for this prompt response in arranging the industrial training. He expects that collaboration of BPMI and IUT will be extended in other technical fields in near future.
